Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Madrid region, would win an absolute majority and José Luis Martínez-Almeida, the Mayor of Madrid, would depend on support from Vox and Ciudadanos (Cs) to govern after the May 28th elections, according to a Sigma Dos poll for El Mundo published last Saturday.

According to the survey, Ayuso's Popular Party would win 48.2% of the votes and 68-69 seats in the regional parliament (absolute majority is set at 68), which would exceed Más Madrid by 42 deputies, leaving them with 26-27 seats in the assembly.

In second position, would be Mónica García with 19.1% of the votes, but with an improvement in the number of deputies she currently has, with two or three more. Juan Lobato’s PSOE would be the third force with 17.1% of the votes and 24-25 seats.

Meanwhile, Unidas Podemos would reach the minimum number of votes required to enter the assembly, with 5.1% of the votes and between 6 and 7 seats. Ciudadanos would be left out of the regional chamber with a 1.5% percentage of votes.

In the Madrid City Council, the poll presents a more competitive scenario for the Popular Party. Almeida would obtain 38.2% of the votes and between 22 and 23 councillors (the majority is set at 29). Behind him, would be Más Madrid of Rita Maestre with 23.9% of the votes and 14 or 15 councillors.

PSOE candidate for mayorship, Reyes Maroto, would rise in the ranks, according to this survey, achieving 17.5% of the votes and obtaining 10 or 11 councillors.

The poll gives Vox a similar result to the last elections, with 7.1% of support and four councillors, while the deputy mayor and leader of Ciudadanos, Begoña Villacís, would obtain three councillors. The union of PP, Vox and Ciudadanos could add up to 29 or 30 councillors.
